Mathew J. Swain, Associate

Mathew J. Swain is an associate in Farella Braun + Martel's Environmental Law Department and Construction Counseling & Dispute Resolution Group.

Mr. Swain's environmental practice centers on compliance counseling, regulatory representation, permitting, and defending clients in enforcement actions.  He also provides strategic advice on product stewardship and environmental aspects of real estate transactions.  Mr. Swain has in-depth experience with a broad range of federal and California environmental laws, including NEPA and CEQA, air, water and waste laws, safe drinking water laws, the Polanco Act, Proposition 65 and the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (AB 32).  In addition, he has counseled clients on coastal and wetlands development, brownfields remediation and redevelopment, management of electronic waste, and federal and state mobile fuels regulations.

Mr. Swain's construction practice focuses on representing owners and contractors in the power generation industry to resolve, through arbitration and litigation, work, delay and disruption claims.  Mr. Swain's technical background gained from counseling power generating clients on environmental matters, such as air, water and waste issues, enhances his ability to service his construction industry clients.
