Deborah K. Tellier, Partner
Deborah K. Tellier is a partner in the firm's Environmental Law Department. Ms. Tellier counsels business and industry clients on compliance with federal, state, and local hazardous materials and waste laws, water and air pollution control laws and underground storage tank laws. She represents companies in administrative proceedings and negotiations regarding soil and groundwater cleanups, securing operational permits and permit variances and enforcement actions involving environmental issues. Ms. Tellier also advises clients on conducting and evaluating environmental due diligence investigations in connection with the acquisition, leasing and financing of real property. She counsels domestic and international clients in establishing and monitoring environmental management systems, audits, and sustainability programs.
Ms. Tellier recently served as Associate General Counsel and Chief Compliance Office for the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, and was a member of the Foundation's Executive Committee. The Foundation is dedicated to advancing environmental conservation and cutting-edge scientific research around the world, as well as helping to improve the quality of life in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2007, the Foundation awarded 134 grants totaling $230 million.
Ms. Tellier serves as a board member and counsel to the Maya Center for Rural Education and Well-Being Association, a US public charity supporting educational programs in rural Guatemala. She is a current and former Executive Committee member of the Environmental Law Section of the Bar Association of San Francisco (2000-2006, 2008), and past co-chair of the Real Property Section, Environmental Subsection, of the State Bar of California (1993-1995). Ms. Tellier has taught and lectured on a variety of environmental law and regulation topics at institutions of higher learning and industry conferences in the San Francisco Bay Area.
