Eugene Mar is an associate in Farella Braun + Martel's Intellectual Property & Technology Group. His practice focuses on all types of intellectual property litigation, especially high-stakes patent litigation for technology companies.
Mr. Mar has counseled and represented clients in patent and trademark infringement cases in the fields of computer software, haptics, drug-eluting stents, capillary electrophoresis, chromatography, computer network storage and DVD technology in all aspects of litigation, including jury trial. He has participated in a 5-week jury trial defending a major video game console manufacturer in a $300 million case involving haptics technology. He has also assisted in winning summary judgment of non-infringement for a leading designer and manufacturer of computer database software and storage in a case involving computer-networked memory storage. Mr. Mar also defended a national manufacturer of capillary electrophoresis and chromatography equipment in a patent and trademark lawsuit and assisted in winning a decisive summary judgment that resulted in an extremely favorable settlement for the client. He has represented a leading computer software manufacturer as well as a pioneer in the field of DVD technology, and in each of those cases, a highly favorable settlement was attained. He is also experienced in the field of drug-eluting stents having defended an innovative manufacturer of these products from allegations of patent infringement.
