Doug Dexter, Partner
Doug Dexter is a partner and chair of the Employment Practice Group.
Mr. Dexter has spent more than 20 years advising employers on implementing sound business policies and reducing the threat of employment litigation and workplace conflict. He has successfully represented employers before arbitrators, juries, administrative agencies and appellate courts on a variety of employment law topics. This advice and representation includes topics such as disability accommodation, sexual harassment, discrimination, "whistle blower" claims, wage compliance, union relations, trade secret protection, unfair competition, and non-compete/solicitation agreements. He also represents executives in negotiating compensation and severance agreements.
Mr. Dexter has advised and represented clients in the communications, media, technology, transportation, retail, manufacturing and professional service industries, including Advanced Micro Devices, Akamai, Amazon.com, Arthur Andersen LLP, BAE Systems, CaseCentral, Cox Broadcasting, Excite@Home, McKinsey & Co., Namco Hometec, Napster, Nestle Waters of North America, Procter & Gamble, Sony Corp., Spansion, Steelcase, Trader Joe’s, United Airlines, Verizon, Vignette, Warner Bros., Yahoo!, and Zappos.com.
Mr. Dexter frequently speaks on employment law issues before legal and employer groups including the American Bar Association, American Employment Law Council, Bay Area Compensation Association, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Best Practices Seminar, National Business Institute, Practicing Law Institute, Northern California Human Resources Association, Recorder Roundtable, and Rutter Group Employment Litigation Judicial Conference.
