Transportation

The Construction Counseling & Dispute Resolution Group at Farella Braun + Martel regularly represents clients in transportation-related construction disputes.  Our attorneys currently are involved in airport, bridge and mass transit projects.  We represented the City and County of San Francisco in a multi-million dollar fraud action involving False Claims and RICO allegations against a contractor arising from the $2.4 billion San Francisco International Airport expansion project.  We also represent a multi-national Japanese-based contractor in delay and disruption claims that have arisen in the design and construction of the Carquinez Suspension Bridge, the first suspension bridge of its kind in this country.  In addition, we represent a specialty equipment supplier in connection with the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) expansion project.

Our services extend beyond litigation and claims disputes.  We also counsel clients and negotiate on their behalf in connection with complex transportation projects.  We drafted the Port of Oakland's Program Management Agreement covering a multi-phase, $1.2 billion expansion of the Oakland Airport International Terminal.  We represented a multi-national, foreign-based contractor in prequalification and contract negotiations relating to the San Francisco Bay Bridge Project's Eastern Span.  Additionally, we have acted as an arbitrator in multiple disputes totaling millions of dollars arising between bridge and highway contractors and Caltrans.  Our construction expertise permits us to offer clients a full range of services in connection with airport, mass transit, bridge, highway, and other transportation-related projects.
